Recommended Vaccinations for your Australian Labradoodle
Disclaimer: The following is for infomation purposes only. Please consult your veterinarian for recommendations regarding the needs of your individual pet.
The following are the 2006 AAHA Revised Canine Vaccination Guidelines. Most notable are changes to the revaccination schedule. The Guidelines now recommend booster vaccination of adult dogs at intervals of every three years or longer (instead of annually) after regular puppy immunizations and an initial booster at one year of age.
There is some concern in the veterinary community that extending the revaccination schedule from every year to every three years or longer will result in pet owners delaying physical examinations until vaccinations are due. It is very important that all dogs have a yearly physical exam even if you are following the delayed immunization guidelines. Early detection of diseases and illness can result in lower cost of treatment and a longer life for your pet.

Dr. Dodds Minimal Vaccine Use Protocol
The following is a minimal vaccine protocol that can be followed where fewer vaccinations are desired. Certain dog breeds and sizes are more susceptible to adverse reactions to vaccines and dogs with immune disorders or susceptibility to immune disorders may benefit from minimal vaccine use. Please consult your veterinarian for vaccination advise.
| Age of Puppy | Vaccine |
|---|---|
| 9 - 10 weeks | Distemper + Parvovirus (MLV) |
| 14 weeks | Distemper + Parvovirus (MLV) |
| 16 - 18 weeks (optional | Distemper + Parvovirus (MLV) |
| 20 weeks or older (as per your local laws) | Rabies |
| 1 year | Distemper + Parvovirus (MLV) |
| 1 year | Rabies, killed 3-year product (give 3-4 weeks apart from distemper/parvovirus booster) |
Dr. Dodds then recommends annual titer testing be done to assess the need for additional vaccination.
